Breaking News!! ! The Coastal Pacific train will be returning from 01st December 2018 to 28th April 2019 and will operate daily except for Christmas Day.  Bookings are now open and with only 126 seats this will sell out fast.  Contact us today to book. 


TranzAlpine Service Information: Due to work in the Otira Tunnel and other track maintenance, this train service will run between Christchurch and Arthurs Pass only and will be replaced by bus between Arthurs Pass and Greymouth on the following dates 07 May, 18 June, 30 July, 10 September, 15 October & 26 November 2018.

Stewart Island Ferry - Stewart Island to Buff

You’ll zip across Foveaux Strait between Bluff and Stewart Island in just one hour aboard comfortable catamarans.

It’s an interesting stretch of water, home to several islands including Dog Island (spot the lighthouse), Ruapuke Island and the Titi Islands, and a considerable fishing industry.

During your trip, keep an eye out along the way for wildlife – particularly seabirds such as the Mollymawk and Titi. Friendly staff provide informative commentary and point out highlights.

An all-year daily scheduled ferry service is available with complimentary tea and coffee served aboard.

Comments : I was surprised at how nice this ferry service was. We had a flat sailing which was excellent as I am not a good sailor. The free cup of tea was nice and as the trip is just one hour long we had no sooner settled in before we arrived at Stewart Island.
